Message from Doug Marsh

September 11, 2007

Hello, Commanders:

This morning I prayed for you!

I prayed from John 17, which is Jesus' prayer for His disciples: 1) That you and your family would be protected spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially from the evil one; 2) That your devotional and spiritual life would be alive, producing applied-godly-manly character; and 3) That, as Jesus obediently and boldly entered the world of lost souls, you too would obediently, boldly, and creatively reach lost boys. Remember how Jesus wept when he saw people wondering aimlessly without a Shepherd? Not only did I pray for you but I also prayed for that the boys touched by your ministry would become the godly men Royal Rangers is intended to build. Know that I, and everyone at the national office, prays for you, and we highly esteem you. Thank you for your service.

October 12-13; The National 24-OUR Prayer Vigil

Yes, I misspelled hour—after all, it is OUR prayer vigil. This is a call for yOUR personal participation. Indeed, we hope you will marshal all your district and sectional staff to participate and call upon all your local commanders to join in. But let's lead by personal example. While I will be at a Children's Pastor Forum in Seattle on the 12 th, I will personally participate on the 13th. Everyone in the national office, too, will participate. Let's cry out to God on behalf of the lost. Randy Woods is doing a terrific job leading this effort and providing guidance on how to focus yOUR prayer time. If you have questions, Randy stands ready to assist ( rwoods@itexas.net). Remember, if we work, we work, but if we pray, God works.

GMA on Backorder

As you know, the GMA is on backorder until mid-October. I have personally met with GPH on this matter, and we are taking steps together so this will not happen again. The good news is that we have gathered sufficient medals to cover those of you who might have ceremonies coming up before the shelves in the supply house are restocked. If you are in a pinch and need one, please contact JR Whinery in our office ( jwhinery@ag.org). Along with our partners at GPH, we apologize for the error and the resulting hardship. We will endeavor to avoid this in the future.

Jeff Cooper appointed as RRI Director-designate by AG World Missions

The Executive Committee of the Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) recently chose Jeff Cooper as the RRI director-designate. Currently, Jeff and his wife Danette are itinerating, preparing their missionary budget to return to Costa Rica. After they get their feet on the ground, they will assume the directorship of Royal Rangers International in the summer of 2009.

If you would, please do the following for them: 1) Pray for Jeff, Danette, and their children, Zach, Lucas, and Maddie; 2) Approach your church about picking them up with a monthly faith promise before they return to Costa Rica in ten months; and 3) Drop Jeff an email and get to know him by visiting his family and ministry website (E-mail: jcooper@royalrangersinternational.com / Website: www.coopersforchrist.com).

I believe Jeff is the man for this position and will do an outstanding job leading the charge to "expand, strengthen, and serve" Royal Rangers around the world.

A great testimony,…

This is an encouraging testimony from Troy and Heidi Jo Darrin, newly appointed AGWM missionaries to Moldova. This is what Royal Rangers is all about!

Now is the time...to see the fruit after 35 years

by Troy Darrin

"It was over 35 years ago that John and Alberta, originally from Wausau, WI (Troy's hometown), were faithful members of Christian Assembly of God in Wausau. During this time, John was involved as the commander of the Royal Ranger ministry. I remember, at age eight, being invited by neighbors to go to Royal Rangers.

"For about one year, I was involved with the Ranger program and enjoyed the weekly meetings, pow wows, cookouts and overnight camping at John and Alberta's farm. When the neighbors moved away, I lost my ride to church and stopped attending Royal Rangers.

"It was eight years later at age 16, I returned to the same church and made a commitment to God. John and Alberta had since moved away. I never saw them again until...

"By divine appointment, this past month during an evening [missionary] service in Owosso, MI, John and I were unexpectedly reunited after 35 years. Commander John was able to see the fruit of seeds sown in a young man now heading to the mission field. What a great evening in Owosso!"

We are part of a great and meaningful ministry, equipping lifelong servant leaders!

With deep love and high esteem for your service to the Lord…

Your friend,

Doug
